2010 OUP Photography Tour

Back to HersheyPark! Memorial Day Weekend!

Just got home from yet another trip to HersheyPark in Hershey, Pennsylvania.  An absolute amazing day, despite the fact that I sit here at my desk with a pretty sore sunburn.  The second stop on the 2010 OUP Photography Tour was just as much fun as the first, if not more so.

We began the day by waking up around 7 AM (after going to bed after 2 AM BTW) getting our things together, and hitting the road.  After getting some breakfast at McDonald’s, and getting gas, we were off to Hershey!  We arrived around 10 AM, after hitting some road construction.  I parked the car, we got on the tram, and headed towards the park.  There we were, almost at the gate.  What did I remember? I left my camera in the car!  I wasn’t going to let it ruin my fun.  We decided to spend the morning/early afternoon enjoying the Boardwalk, which was the main reason for going back to HersheyPark today after just being there the first week of May on Opening Day.

AWESOME time.  We went around the lazy river (Intercoastal Waterway) many times, played in the wave pool (The Shore), went down almost all of the water slides, played around in the East Coast Waterworks, had an ABSOLUTE blast.  We ended up getting lunch at Nathan’s, which is located at the Boardwalk.  I had two hotdogs, chili cheese french fries, and an Orange Crush.  Brandi, my girlfriend, had a philly cheesesteak, french fries, and also an Orange Crush.

After lunch, around 4 PM, we took the tram back out to the parking lot and got my camera!

The first thing I decided to do was get some photography in the Boardwalk, which was pretty busy today being not only Memorial Day Weekend, but the Opening Weekend of the Boardwalk itself as well.  I always enjoy getting different photography of the water rides, etc.. whenever I visit HersheyPark….

Afterwards we decided to enjoy the BEAUTIFUL weather some more and go around the lazy river a few times, before the Boardwalk closed around 6 PM.  We then got changed and started to walk through the rest of the park, which was the first time of the day.  We spent the entire afternoon in the Boardwalk, which was the original plan.  I’m glad we did because I had a blast!

One thing that we came across that I found fun was a performance by N’Disguize, one of HersheyPark’s in-house groups that I never before had the chance of seeing.  They sing, and do everything music-wise with their mouths (beat-boxing, etc…).  Enjoyable, quick little show.

We ended the night by playing some games around the park, and of course spending some time in our favorite arcade!  We always spend a good time there getting tickets/tokens to redeem for prizes!  (I admit, I am a kid… ha.)  After doing that we got a few snacks here and there, some different drinks, and took in some quality relaxation and enjoyed the sights and sounds of HersheyPark as the sun went down.  We even went to the Chocolate World and took the free ride to receive our free piece of chocolate!  What would a trip to Hershey be without some chocolate?!?  Besides the chocolate we picked up a few cookies which ended up being delicious!

Awesome day, as always, in Hershey.  Now we have less than two weeks until the next stop of the 2010 OUP Photography Tour, which I am extremely pumped about.  On June 11th we’ll be heading to Outer Banks, North Carolina!  We’ll be staying in Kill Devil Hills at the John Yancey Oceanfront Inn right on the beach, and I’ll be updating this blog right from the Outer Banks daily!

In the meanwhile you can check out more of my photography on OUP Photography!

I’ll have the first update from Outer Banks on June 11th!  And don’t forget, I am saving a bulk of my photography from this tour, posting it NOWHERE on the Internet, and saving it for a “top secret project” for this blog at the end of the tour!  STAY TUNED!
